EXAMINATIONS

 

The college follows semester pattern and all work relating to the conduct of Examinations, publication of results etc, are looked after by a full time controller of Examinations who is a senior member of the faculty of this collage.

Dr. N. Gowrisankar, Reader in History is the Controller of Examinations and Thiru E.P.S. Thiyagarajan, Selection Grade lecturer in English is the Additional Controller of Examinations.

 

Components of Evaluation:


1. The Semester End Examination and Continuous Assessment carrying 80 percent and 20 percent respectively of the total marks of 100 for each paper, will form the basis grading each paper and for the award of the Degree.

 

Semester-end Examination:

 

1. B.A., B.Sc., Degree Examinations will be held as follows:
In November - Papers of all semesters.
In April – Papers of all semesters.

2. M.A., M.Sc., Degree Examinations will be held as follows:
In November – Papers of all semesters.
In April – Papers of all semesters.
Supplementary candidates will be given a chance to write the failed papers at the opportunity subject to the number of appearances.

3. Examination fees once paid will not be refunded or adjusted under any circumstances.

 

Grading System

 

Grading will be as prescribed by each department in general accordance with University practice

 

Passing Minimum for B.A.,/B.Sc.,

 

A Candidate who secures not less than 45 percent at the semester end examinations in each subject and not less than 50 percent of the total marks for the continuous assessment marks put together shall be declared to have passed the examinations in that subject. There is no passing minimum for internal assessment tests.Under the credit system a candidate has secure 123 credit for the award of degree.

 

Passing Minimum for M.A.,/M.Sc.,/M.Com:

 
(i) A Candidate who secures not less than 45 percent at the semester end examinations in each subject and not less than 50 percent of the total marks for the continuous assessment marks put together shall be declared to have passed the examinations in that subject. There is no passing minimum for internal assessment tests.

(ii) A candidate who fails to secure the prescribed minimum for a pass in any subject in any Semester shall be required to appear only for such theory papers and practical (including viva-voce) when such examinations are conducted by the college, within the period for completion of the course and subject to the number of appearances permitted.

(iii) A Candidate failing in the project work shall be required to resubmit the project work.

(iv) A candidate who successfully completes the course and passes the examinations prescribed in all the subjects of the four semesters for M.A.,/M.Sc.,/M.Com., and 6 semesters for B.A.,/B.Sc., shall be declared to have qualified for the degree.

(v) Any appeal regarding autonomous examinations should be made within thirty days from the date of the publication of the results.

In the credit system a candidate has to secure 72 credits for the award of the degree.


Number of Appearances:

 

B.A./B. Sc., candidate shall be permitted to appear for the examinations in such papers prescribed for the course not more then four times. For this purpose absence from the examinations after registering as a candidate will not be deemed as an attempt.

They shall have to pass all the examinations prescribed for the course within the period of five years from the date of joining the course in the first year. Candidate failing to quality within the above stipulated period / attempts shall have to repeat the course under the regulation then in force and they are not eligible for any exemption in paper / papers which they have already passed.

M.A.,/M.Sc.,/M.Com., M.C.A.,/ candidates shall be permitted to appear for the examinations in each paper prescribed for the course not more than three times. For this purpose absence from the examination after registering as a candidate will not be deemed as an attempt. They shall also have to pass all the examinations prescribed for the courses within a period of three years. Candidate failing to quality within the above stipulated period / attempts shall have to repeat the course und the regulation then in force and they are not eligible for any exemption in paper / papers which they have already passed.

Detained Candidates


The detained candidated for want to attendance in a semesters will have to rejoin the corresponding semester after the completion of the course to make up for the deficiency in attendance .However they will not be entitled to the rights and privileges of a regular student.
 

Supplementary Examinations
 

Supplementary examinations are conducted from the academician 2004-2005 for the candidate who here failed in only one paper of the sixth semester UG and fourth semester of PG.
